Archives For June 2011

I was, at one point in my life, both young and stupid (soundtrack reference).  I would like to think that most people are that way when they are younger.  I was definitely a naïve teenager, among other things.  The day I watched Cruel Intentions, my life changed drastically.  I was infatuated with the movie and everything it stood for.  I was the Annette Hargrove and I envied Kathryn Merteuil.  To this day, when I see the perfect blue button down on a guy, I refer to it as “Cruel Intentions” blue. (I wish there were more of them in the world!) Needless to say, I was so obsessed with the movie that I created my own little slogan to live by. I was certain that everything I would ever need to know in life I could learn from Cruel Intentions.

While I realize now this wasn’t the case, I still look back on those days and giggle.  I do still find some of the quotes applicable, but most of them are just memorable now.  And now, I want to share life’s little Cruel Intentions lessons with you.  Enjoy.

Everything I need to know in life, I learned from Cruel Intentions:
Never trust anyone who says you have killer legs
Things blossom down under
Whenever you feel a temptation of peer pressure, turn to God
Some guys are bad apples
Keep your legs together; This isn’t Jamaica
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer
Be more specific
Be the only person he can’t have so it kills him
Happy Hunting
Write and save love letters
Swim naked
Show off your headstand
Don Juan moves with speed of a Special Olympic Hurdler
Boo Hoo
When things get too steamy, “down boy” is a catchy phrase
When things don’t go your way, get horny
Always be discrete
Act like Mary Sunshine 24-7
Be the Marsha Brady of the Upper East Side
Tell Doctor Freud your psychoanalysis
Try the Long Island Iced tea
Always be sexy
Always go “shopping”
Practice makes perfect
Everyone does things; it’s just that no one talks about them
Never be sorry
Don’t walk away from love
People don’t change over night
Toast to triumphs
Don’t fuck losers
Be both young and stupid
In the game of seduction there is only one rule: Never fall in love
